Welcome to the podcast launch strategy podcast, where we take a deep dive into

Speaker:

the latest podcast, launch strategies and tactics to help you launch a

Speaker:

successful show and grow your podcast.

Speaker:

Hi, I'm temple dang.

Speaker:

I'm an online marketing expert podcast.

Speaker:

And the host of the mesmerizing marketing podcast.

Speaker:

I love helping others share their message globally to build

Speaker:

a profitable personal brand.

Speaker:

That is mesmerizing.

Speaker:

All right, let's get this podcast started.

Speaker:

Hello.

Speaker:

Everyone said today, we're going to be talking about a question.

Speaker:

I get a lot from people that message me on my other podcast, which

Speaker:

is called mesmerizing marketing.

Speaker:

Again, mesmerizing marketing.

Speaker:

You guys can check that out.

Speaker:

I will link it in the show notes, the question that I get is, people always want

Speaker:

to know is starting a podcast worth it.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And I think when that question comes up, You have to think about.

Speaker:

Is it worth it to you?

Speaker:

Well, what's your expectation?

Speaker:

What are you trying to get out of having a podcast?

Speaker:

And, let's talk about that a little bit.

Speaker:

So if your intention for having a podcast is because you want to build

Speaker:

a show that, gets a lot of reach and builds up an audience, and you want to

Speaker:

be able to have sponsors Is it worth it?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

It's it is worth it, but is it going to be easy or an overnight thing?

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

So I just want to be real here with you guys and, let you know that podcasting

Speaker:

is a long-term game, but is it worth it?

Speaker:

If you're asking me that question, is it worth it to me?

Speaker:

I would say absolutely 110%.

Speaker:

It is worth it.

Speaker:

And I absolutely love podcasting.

Speaker:

And in fact, I love it so much.

Speaker:

You know, I have multiple shows, so this is not my only show, like I mentioned,

Speaker:

and there's a couple of other ones that I'm going to be launching as well.

Speaker:

So it's worth it.

Speaker:

And this is why, I want to share with you guys, why it's worth it to me to give

Speaker:

you guys a little bit more perspective.

Speaker:

And then we can talk about why it would be worth it to you or not worth it to you.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So for me, Is it worth it?

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

For one I've wanted to have a podcast.

Speaker:

for the longest time, it's like probably over six or seven years ago that I

Speaker:

wanted to launch my show and, life gets in the way and you get busy and

Speaker:

then you kind of forget about it.

Speaker:

So it's something I've had on my to-do list for awhile.

Speaker:

And, they say that timing is everything.

Speaker:

And timing is everything.

Speaker:

So when the time was right, you know, and launched my first show, and this is

Speaker:

my second show, and I'm going to have a third, a fourth and a fifth, right.

Speaker:

I'm going to be building my podcast empire, and there are definitely

Speaker:

advantages to having your show.

Speaker:

What I like about having my own.

Speaker:

Then it helps build my credibility in my niche.

Speaker:

So I'm a marketing expert and I also am a legal marketing expert.

Speaker:

So for example, for the legal part of it, I'm probably going to

Speaker:

have another show for that because it's a totally different audience.

Speaker:

But in general, Having my own show, especially a show on marketing.

Speaker:

It allows me to showcase my expertise and my skills, and that is what you need to do

Speaker:

because no one is Randomly going to come to you and say, Hey, I want to hire you.

Speaker:

I want to work with you unless maybe it was a referral, then that's possible.

Speaker:

Or maybe you have done a great job of creating a lot of content out

Speaker:

there and they saw your Instagram.

Speaker:

Are your tech talks are your YouTube videos, right?

Speaker:

Are your Facebook lives and Instagram lives, or maybe they've heard you

Speaker:

speak on social audio on rooms, like clubhouse or on wisdom, but they're not

Speaker:

just randomly going to come to you out of the blue and decide that they want

Speaker:

to work with you, unless maybe yeah.

Speaker:

If you're a big celebrity, you know, like Gary V that would be a different style.

Speaker:

But by having your own show, you have the ability to showcase your skills.

Speaker:

And that is why when you have your own shell, I always tell

Speaker:

everyone, even if you have a show where you always have guests on.

Speaker:

Either have another podcast that's independent of that one, where you

Speaker:

get to showcase your skills and your expertise are even if you have a show

Speaker:

where you interview guests, you don't always have to interview guests.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

You can even do some soul episodes where you talk about one specific

Speaker:

topic and you give your expertise.

Speaker:

On it, you can do that.

Speaker:

So the other thing is when you have your own podcast, other people come to

Speaker:

you and they start saying, Hey temple, would you like to be a guest on my show?

Speaker:

And the biggest advantage of being a guest on other people's show is

Speaker:

that you're opening yourself up.

Speaker:

To an audience that is completely different than the audience that you have.

Speaker:

And this is a brand new audience that maybe before they didn't

Speaker:

know who you were, but now they're going to know who you are.

Speaker:

And as a result, it's also going to help you increase your subscribers

Speaker:

and your fans for your own podcast.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So a great way to get on other podcasts is to have your own podcast.

Speaker:

First, if you try to get on other podcasts, some people are going to say

Speaker:

yes, but some people are going to want to know how do you sound, are you good at

Speaker:

answering questions or are you rambling on they want a little more information

Speaker:

because if they've built up a quality show, they obviously want quality guests.

Speaker:

And if you have appeared on certain podcasts, you can use that.

Speaker:

But.

Speaker:

Putting on your website, I've appeared on this show and this show and this show,

Speaker:

and you can put a link to those episodes and then people can listen to those

Speaker:

episodes and they can see your expertise.

Speaker:

They can see how you sound and they can invite you to be on, their show as well.

Speaker:

The other thing about is a podcast worth.

Speaker:

It It's worth a two because you can be very strategic and

Speaker:

you can use your podcast as.

Speaker:

Lead generation tool to offer anything to your audience.

Speaker:

in fact, your audience wants you to offer something because if they do enjoy

Speaker:

your show and they enjoy your content, they probably want more from you.

Speaker:

So on your show, don't be afraid to ask them to.

Speaker:

Subscribed to your email list are offered like a free PDF that you created

Speaker:

for them that they can download are to join your Facebook community or discord

Speaker:

community, and even invite them to a free webinar are if you have a paid

Speaker:

masterclass, it's a perfect opportunity.

Speaker:

To tell your audience what you're up to and how you can help them elevate

Speaker:

their skills to the next level with, the teachings that you offer and the

Speaker:

wisdom that you can bring to the table.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So now let's talk about a podcasting is worth it for you.

Speaker:

So for you, here's the thing you have to go into podcasting

Speaker:

for the right reasons and.

Speaker:

It's only going to work.

Speaker:

Then if you're going into podcasting for the wrong reasons, like, immediately

Speaker:

you think you're going to get.

Speaker:

Big clients out of it, or immediately you're going to be,

Speaker:

asked to get sponsors and all that.

Speaker:

I mean, that's not very realistic now doesn't happen where you can get

Speaker:

sponsors within the first few months.

Speaker:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker:

It does happen, but I also don't want to give false expectations where, okay.

Speaker:

You only have three or four episodes out and you know,

Speaker:

you're expecting to make money.

Speaker:

But there are other ways to make money.

Speaker:

And that's my offering your products and services on your show.

Speaker:

And that's what I recommend that you do.

Speaker:

And then is it worth it?

Speaker:

You know, it is a time commitment, but you know, it doesn't have

Speaker:

to be a huge time commitment.

Speaker:

You get to decide the frequency of your show.

Speaker:

You get to decide if you want to have a show that you release one episode of.

Speaker:

And maybe that episode is like 15 to 20 minutes.

Speaker:

So that shouldn't be too difficult.

Speaker:

Are you get to decide if you want to have a show that maybe you released

Speaker:

two episodes a month, or maybe you want to release two episodes

Speaker:

a week and you want to be more aggressive, it's completely up to you.

Speaker:

And when you want to record it's up to you as well, because if you're doing a show

Speaker:

that's solo, you could record at midnight.

Speaker:

If you want to, you could record at 5:00 PM.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

All you need is the right equipment and you just hit the

Speaker:

start button and you can record.

Speaker:

And that's the beauty of it.

Speaker:

You can even take your microphone with you when you're traveling and you can

Speaker:

still record your podcast episodes.

Speaker:

So, is it worth it?

Speaker:

Yeah, it's worth it.

Speaker:

a couple of reasons why it's worth it is that it's going to.

Speaker:

Increase your credibility.

Speaker:

It's going to increase that know like, and trust factor.

Speaker:

It's going to allow you to be seen in more places and to broaden

Speaker:

the audience that you have.

Speaker:

And certain episodes, are going to rank on page one of Google.

Speaker:

And when someone does a search for you, they're going to see that you

Speaker:

have been on all of these podcasts, or maybe you have your own show

Speaker:

and they can go listen to that.

Speaker:

And that gives you social.

Speaker:

And social proof is great.

Speaker:

It's like a testimonial, right.

Speaker:

And everyone knows how important testimonials are.

Speaker:

So think about it that way.

Speaker:

And then the other thing is, if you are strategic about it, you

Speaker:

can really leverage podcasting as an entire marketing strategy.

Speaker:

And that is something that I teach.

Speaker:

One-on-one like if someone wants to work with me, one-on-one we do a VIP day.

Speaker:

I teach them how they can use their podcast to leverage their

Speaker:

entire business for success.

Speaker:

And to set it up in a way that they can tie everything together and they

Speaker:

can be more efficient, have more time, but they can create something that's

Speaker:

going to be sustainable for the future.

Speaker:

So that's really important.

Speaker:

So I say it's definitely worth it.

Speaker:

However, when it comes to you, no one else can decide if it's worth it

Speaker:

to you or not accept for yourself.

Speaker:

So I think you just have to do your homework.

Speaker:

You have to do a little bit of soul searching and then you'll know if

Speaker:

it's the right thing for you or not.

Speaker:

And whatever you decide, even if you're not ready yet, it is okay.

Speaker:

Because when you're ready, you're going to know.

Speaker:

But in the meantime, You can be a consumer and you can consume, so many

Speaker:

different podcasts that are out there and you can learn, you can educate, you

Speaker:

can grow and expand your horizons and you can, you know, have more wisdom.

Speaker:

And I also wanted to let you guys know.

Speaker:

, something that I've been doing that I'm really excited about

Speaker:

is that I have put together.

Speaker:

Launch your podcast one day live masterclass, and I've had a couple

Speaker:

of these already and everyone who joined absolutely loved it.

Speaker:

I've got a ton of testimonials and it is something where we go five hours where we

Speaker:

go through the entire process of getting.

Speaker:

, launched from a to Z.

Speaker:

What do you need to know about equipment, about interviewing

Speaker:

about , how to get your podcast out there to all the different platforms,

Speaker:

how to market it and promote it.

Speaker:

How do you even set yourself up to get sponsors for the future?

Speaker:

I mean, that just blank one-third of it.

Speaker:

There's so much more, but if you guys want to learn more about that,

Speaker:

you want to be a part of that.

Speaker:

All you have to do is go to the show notes.

Speaker:

And this episode, and then there'll be a link that you can click on for the

Speaker:

one day launch your podcast masterclass, and you can see what's being offered.

Speaker:

And the cool thing is it's going to have a follow-up session as well.

Speaker:

And, you get a lot more than just that.

Speaker:

So go check it out.

Speaker:

And I hope that, you know, you have been inspired to start thinking about

Speaker:

launching your own podcast and whether it's worth it or not, you may never know.

Speaker:

What it's going to be worth to you until maybe you launch your show, you

Speaker:

launch your show, you are consistent and you do it consistently, you know,

Speaker:

for six to 12 months, I think you've got to give yourself that time.

Speaker:

I think one of the mistakes, a lot of podcasters make is

Speaker:

that they quit way too soon.

Speaker:

And any time you quit anything way too soon, you're not going to succeed.

Speaker:

Podcasting is very much like entrepreneurial.

Speaker:

How many entrepreneurs do you know that quit?

Speaker:

And they just gave up.

Speaker:

But think about all of the big entrepreneurs that have billion

Speaker:

dollar businesses right now, how many times did they fail?

Speaker:

And then they kept going and they kept starting over and over

Speaker:

again, you can do the same thing.

Speaker:

If you're committed to your success, you're going to do what it takes.

Speaker:

And if you fail, you're just going to learn valuable lessons from

Speaker:

those failures, and then you're going to turn them into wins.

Speaker:

So I can't wait to see that.

Speaker:

I would love to hear from you guys on how else I can support you.

Speaker:

And if you are thinking about.
