Welcome to the podcast launch strategy podcast, where we take a deep dive into
Speaker:the latest podcast, launch strategies and tactics to help you launch a
Speaker:successful show and grow your podcast.
Speaker:Hi, I'm temple dang.
Speaker:I'm an online marketing expert podcast.
Speaker:And the host of the mesmerizing marketing podcast.
Speaker:I love helping others share their message globally to build
Speaker:a profitable personal brand.
Speaker:That is mesmerizing.
Speaker:All right, let's get this podcast started.
Dimple:Welcome back to podcast launch strategy.
Dimple:Today, we are going to be talking about podcasting for beginners.
Dimple:If you are a beginner in this episode, we're going to go through everything
Dimple:that you need to know about launching your show and what are the things
Dimple:that you need to be thinking about.
Dimple:All right.
Dimple:So one of the things that you need to think about is, you know, what
Dimple:type of show do you want, do you want to do a show that's solo
Dimple:or do you want to have a guest.
Dimple:So one of the things that's really important to think about when you
Dimple:are launching a new show is what's a format going to be meaning.
Dimple:Do you want to have a podcast that is just solo, where you are the one
Dimple:recording and submitting episodes?
Dimple:Where it just you R do you want to have a co-host and the other option
Dimple:is, do you want to have a show where you have different guests are maybe
Dimple:a combination of doing some solo episodes and some episodes with guests?
Dimple:So for me, my main podcast is called mesmerizing marketing,
Dimple:and I do the combination things.
Dimple:So I do some episodes that are so.
Dimple:And I do some episodes that are with guests and there's advantages to both.
Dimple:And I'm going to talk about why it's to your advantage, to do solo episodes.
Dimple:Even if you have a podcast that you have guests on are even launched,
Dimple:maybe a second podcast where it's just highlighting your expertise.
Dimple:And this is why, because when you do solo episodes, people really get.
Dimple:People really get to see a glimpse into your knowledge and your wisdom.
Dimple:And they're going to get to know that you're really good at what you do.
Dimple:You're good at your industry and that's, what's gonna make them want to work with
Dimple:you in the future or hire you or buy your course or sign up for your masterclass.
Dimple:So whenever you have the opportunity to showcase your expertise, You should take
Dimple:advantage of that on your podcast and not just on your podcasts, but when you have
Dimple:your own show, another advantage of having your own show is that you're going to
Dimple:get a lot of people that, that are going to start coming to you and saying, Hey
Dimple:tempo, do you want to be on my podcast?
Dimple:Do you want to be a guest?
Dimple:And that's one of the biggest advantages of having your own
Dimple:show is that other people will invite you to be on their show.
Dimple:And then you're going to be able to tap into their.
Dimple:All right.
Dimple:So we talked about format and for the format, you have a
Dimple:couple of different options.
Dimple:You can do solo, you can have a co-host or you can have even guests co-hosts
Dimple:that come in periodically, or maybe for a particular series that you're
Dimple:doing and you can have interviews.
Dimple:So that's what you want to think about.
Dimple:The next thing you want to think about is what's going to be the
Dimple:duration of my podcast episodes on average, do I want to do an episode
Dimple:that's 30 minutes once a week.
Dimple:Do I want to do an hour with a guest interview once a week?
Dimple:Do I want to do episodes that are more concise, like 15 to 20 minutes?
Dimple:That's going to be twice a week.
Dimple:So that's up to you.
Dimple:You have to figure out what you're willing to commit to, and also
Dimple:what you're able to commit to.
Dimple:And once you determine what you can commit to, then you just
Dimple:need to stick to that game plan.
Dimple:So I think a good rule of thumb would be that if you could have one new episode
Dimple:released a week, that would be great because it keeps your audience engaged.
Dimple:And there's not too much time that goes by where they tend to
Dimple:forget about you and your show.
Dimple:So if you can release one a week, I think that's, a good standard to go for.
Dimple:And then if you're going to be interviewing guests, I would say
Dimple:that those episodes can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
Dimple:But I've noticed that if you have a guest that is, you know, a celebrity or you
Dimple:really wanted to get them on your show for a while, and it took even a long time
Dimple:to get them on your calendar, because they're really busy, that might be an
Dimple:interview that goes for about 55 minutes.
Dimple:And that's because there's going to be a lot to talk about.
Dimple:There's going to be a lot of, questions that you have for them that
Dimple:you want to pull out, you know, to share that wisdom with your audience.
Dimple:And then.
Dimple:If you're doing something alone like solo, I mean, those can be
Dimple:like 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
Dimple:And when you think about it, you know, even on average of someone is driving
Dimple:to their office or they're driving to go run errands, they are probably going
Dimple:to be in their car for maybe 20 minutes.
Dimple:Right.
Dimple:So you can even think of it that way.
Dimple:Hey, can they listen to this on their way to pick up their kids from
Dimple:daycare are on their way back from the office, because keep in mind.
Dimple:A lot of people are listening to podcasts in their car.
Dimple:So keep that in mind.
Dimple:Then after you've determined the frequency of your show, the format of your show,
Dimple:you also need to determine the topics.
Dimple:Are you going to niche down?
Dimple:Are you going to keep everything really broad?
Dimple:And when it comes to podcasting, it is better to niche down that's
Dimple:because everyone is not your audience.
Dimple:And I know that I have future podcasters come to me.
Dimple:And my club has rooms and they're always asking, well, I want to talk about so
Dimple:many different topics and I get that.
Dimple:I mean, I sometimes feel the same way, but for that reason, that is why I am
Dimple:launching multiple podcasts, because I want my specific podcasts to resonate
Dimple:with a very specific type of audience, because if that can happen, They're going
Dimple:to end up being very loyal followers and fans, and they're going to, binge listen
Dimple:to all of your episodes and your shows.
Dimple:So that's important.
Dimple:and the other thing is the more niche that you, that you are, there's less
Dimple:competition, but it's also more targeted.
Dimple:So someone is searching on Google.
Dimple:And your podcast is niche.
Dimple:They're going to find that podcast and they're going to listen to it.
Dimple:They're going to subscribe and you're going to become
Dimple:well-known, for that niche.
Dimple:So think about what it is that you do, one type of clients that you work with or what
Dimple:your main business is and think about who your target audiences, who is your avatar.
Dimple:And if you're not sure, take out a piece of paper and start writing down.
Dimple:everything that you can think of about them.
Dimple:Are they male?
Dimple:Are they female?
Dimple:Are they married?
Dimple:Are they single?
Dimple:How old are they?
Dimple:What do they like to do in their spare time?
Dimple:What are their hobbies?
Dimple:When you write all these things down, it's going to help you
Dimple:build your ideal podcast avatar.
Dimple:And those are the people that you want to create a show for.
Dimple:Those are the people that you want to speak to.
Dimple:So think about that.
Dimple:And then the other thing you're going to need is once you've determined
Dimple:all of those things, you're really going to need to determine how
Dimple:to figure out what topics, right.
Dimple:How to come up with different topic ideas and for topics.
Dimple:I always say.
Dimple:Your podcast should be about topics that people are searching for
Dimple:information online because of they're looking for that information already.
Dimple:You want to be the obvious choice that ranks on page one of Google.
Dimple:And that's the advantage of having a podcast you can rank on page one of.
Dimple:When your podcast you can rank on page one, but you have to be strategic
Dimple:about it, and you have to know a little bit about search engine optimization.
Dimple:make sure you subscribe to this podcast because I will be doing
Dimple:another episode that will go through search engine optimization for
Dimple:podcasters and podcasting in detail.
Dimple:So make sure you subscribe right now, so you don't forget.
Dimple:The other thing is, once you have that down, obviously.
Dimple:Yeah.
Dimple:So the topics, coming up with topics all the time, sometimes
Dimple:you can run out of ideas.
Dimple:So one of the tools that I love and I use to come up with content
Dimple:ideas for my podcast, for my blog articles, for social media, and even
Dimple:for interview questions that I'm going to ask the guest, it is called.
Dimple:Answer the public.
Dimple:So you go to this website called answer the public.com.
Dimple:You're going to type in a particular key words.
Dimple:So for example, if I type in, business coach, it's going to give me all
Dimple:of these questions that the public is searching for on Google and the
Dimple:ones that are in the darker green.
Dimple:Those are the ones that are more popular, and then you can take those
Dimple:questions and you will see a button towards the top right-hand side.
Dimple:It's going to say export.
Dimple:Well, you can export all of those questions into a.
Dimple:Excel document, and you can make a spreadsheet and you can remove
Dimple:the ones that you don't want in.
Dimple:You can keep what you want.
Dimple:So the other thing I would recommend is the circular wheel
Dimple:that you see with questions and allows you to save that image.
Dimple:So I want you to save that image, and I want you to compare that image when
Dimple:the questions that you have and on the image, it's going to have the ones that
Dimple:are more popular in the darker green.
Dimple:So out of those, I want you to pick what you want to talk about or which
Dimple:ones that you like for your topics.
Dimple:And then you're going to literally be able to make a content calendar
Dimple:from what I'm telling you and have enough content for the next 90 days.
Dimple:So here's a little hack.
Dimple:So answer the public is a free tool, but you can only do two free searches a day.
Dimple:Which is all you're going to need.
Dimple:So if you try to do more than two, they're going to say you have to
Dimple:pay for it and you can pay for it if you want, but you can go in every
Dimple:day and you can do two searches.
Dimple:And if you do this for like a week or two, you're going to have enough
Dimple:content ideas for the next 90 days.
Dimple:you can come up with your entire content marketing strategy.
Dimple:All right.
Dimple:So then you've got your show format, you've got their frequency, and
Dimple:then you have, an idea on how you're going to create content.
Dimple:Then the other thing obviously is you also need to figure out your equipment.
Dimple:You need to figure it out.
Dimple:Hosting platforms and you need to figure out recording studio.
Dimple:You need to figure out if you want a podcast that is going to be audio only,
Dimple:or it's going to meet audio and video, or maybe, you know what you record
Dimple:video and you decide later if you want to use it or not, and repurpose it for
Dimple:YouTube channel or any other platforms.
Dimple:And then the other thing, you can also consider it.
Dimple:Do you want to do a podcast where you do it live and you live stream out
Dimple:to all of these different platforms, like, Instagram live, Facebook live
Dimple:and, Patriot and all these things.
Dimple:That's also up to you, but the choices are there.
Dimple:And when it comes to the platforms for, recording and for hosting.
Dimple:For recording.
Dimple:I highly recommend riverside.fm.
Dimple:It records on separate tracks.
Dimple:So even if the internet connection of your guests was not good in reality,
Dimple:when you download the video files on separate tracks, you're going to get
Dimple:a really high quality resolution.
Dimple:And that is really important.
Dimple:And then the audio files too, it records and wave and wave files are
Dimple:much better quality than even MP3 and.
Dimple:I'm going to link one of my other episodes in the show notes that you can listen
Dimple:to where I go into a lot more detail about riverside.fm, and then for hosting,
Dimple:you're gonna need a hosting platform.
Dimple:So some people like to use lip sing, which has been around forever,
Dimple:but it's, a little bit old school when it comes to visually how the.
Dimple:Audio players look, but it is very trusted in the marketplace.
Dimple:The one that I love is captivate.fm.
Dimple:it's, you know, fairly newer in the sense that it's been around,
Dimple:for a couple of years recently.
Dimple:And it just gives you really modern looking sleek audio players.
Dimple:It gives you marketing features and functionality, and you can have unlimited
Dimple:shows and he also got a free website included with your monthly plan.
Dimple:So it's pretty amazing.
Dimple:I'm going to link all of these resources for you guys in the show notes.
Dimple:And some of them do have, you know, a free trial.
Dimple:So this way, if you use my affiliate link, you can get the free trial and make sure
Dimple:you like it first before you commit to it.
Dimple:And other than that, you know, you need to.
Dimple:Determine also how you're going to be editing your show
Dimple:and your podcast for that.
Dimple:I use to script.com, but if you don't want to edit your own show,
Dimple:you can hire people to do that.
Dimple:There's a lot of resources out there.
Dimple:If you don't want to do it yourself, you can hire a VA.
Dimple:You can hire someone to do it.
Dimple:Are, you can use a platform like descript.com and you
Dimple:can do your own editing.
Dimple:It makes it super simple.
Dimple:Again, all, I will link another episode where I go into lots of
Dimple:details about, these three tools that I just mentioned, but basically
Dimple:that's what you need to get started.
Dimple:And then it just a matter of hitting the start button.
Dimple:And recording your show and committing to it, putting it on your calendar and
Dimple:that's how you're going to get it done.
Dimple:So if you have been thinking about launching your own show, I wanted to
Dimple:let you know that I put together a one day launch your podcast masterclass.
Dimple:I've had a couple of these and everyone who attended absolutely loved them.
Dimple:And I just wanted to let you know that I have another one coming up and
Dimple:depending on when you listen to this episode, if you listen to it, the
Dimple:weakest cyber Monday, you might be able to take advantage of my amazing special
Dimple:that I have with tons of bonuses.
Dimple:So all you have to do is click on the show notes and you'll be able
Dimple:to see all of that information and thank you so much for listening.
Dimple:If you found this episode.
Dimple:Useful, please go ahead and leave me a five-star view with some detailed
Dimple:information, because that is what's going to get me to keep creating
Dimple:more content for you guys, and also inspiring you to launch your own show.
Dimple:I have to say that launching my show was one of the best things I've done.
Dimple:I absolutely love podcasting.
Dimple:Every time I record an episode, it makes me happy to share my
Dimple:message, to share my knowledge, to share my wisdom with the world.
Dimple:And you know what, for 2022, I want the same for you guys.
Dimple:I want the same.
Dimple:So I'm here to help you and support you in any way that I can.
Dimple:My email is also in the show notes.

Dimple:it's starting a YouTube channel, whatever it happens to be, but you know what?
Dimple:Don't just keep your message to yourself because the world needs to
Dimple:hear your message now more than ever.
